Credit Cards with Phone Insurance

What are the Best Credit Cards with Phone Insurance?

Now there are a LOT of credit cards with similar benefits. One of the more nuanced and unique benefits is offering cell phone protection. So you may not have to pay extra to protect your cell phone (i.e. using Apple Care). Here is a comprehensive list of different credit cards that offer protection for your cell phone!

This post is about the best credit cards with phone insurance.

1. Wells Fargo Active Cash Card (Everyday)

This credit card offers 2% cash back with no annual fee. In fact, there’s a sign-up bonus of earning $200 cash rewards after spending $500 within the first 3 months. It also offers cell phone protection. Customers are eligible for this benefit when they pay their monthly cell phone bill using this card. All around, sounds pretty good as an introductory card, especially since it has no annual fee!

There is, however, a foreign transaction fee, so maybe not your top choice when traveling.

2. Chase Freedom Flex (Travel)

This card offers up to 5% cash back with no annual fee! The categories change every quarter, so you have the ability to plan out how you want to spend for the year. For example, say you’re paying for the internet with a different card that gives you a measly 2% cash back, you can opt to pay for that service through the Chase Freedom Flex and get the 5% off instead of the 2% cash back your other card offers.

Now, this is primarily a Travel card, because it offers juicier benefits for travel and dining. For example, you’ll get 5% on travel (when purchases are made through the Chase Ultimate Rewards portal) and 3% on dining.

This card offers up to $800 per claim and $1,000 per year for cell phone protection.

3. Capital One Venture X Rewards (Travel)

This card offers 5x & 10x  miles for travel related purchases (5x for flights and 10x for hotels and rental cars) that are booked using the Capital One Travel portal. You’ll get 2 miles per dollar for all other purchases. The annual fee for this card is $395.

I’d like to think that the annual fee for this card is to justify the myriad of other benefits like TSA Pre-Check or Global Entry credit of up to $100, Lounge Access, Anniversary Bonus, and so much more.

Lastly, this card offers cell phone protection of up to $800 per claim, and $1,600 per year.

4. American Express Platinum Card (Travel)

This card offers 5x points on flights and hotels that are booked through the American Express Travel portal. Everything else will be 1x point. With an annual fee of $695, this card does provide a lot of travel benefits like hotel booking credits, TSA Pre-Check or Global Entry, Uber credit, streaming service credits (Disney, ESPN, Hulu, Peacock, etc), and so much more!

Lastly, this card offers cell phone protection of up to $800 per claim.

At its hefty annual fee, this is definitely a premium card for those who travel a lot and can utilize a lot of the benefits offered.

5. U.S. Bank Altitude Connect Visa Signature Card (Travel)

This card offers 5x points on hotels and car rentals, 4x on travel, gas stations/charging stations, with an annual fee of $95 after the first year. There are additional benefits, like points for streaming services, grocery stores, and dining.

This card offers cell phone protection of up to $600 per year.

Since the annual fee is much lower than other credit cards, if you’re looking for a card solely based on the phone protection, this could be a top contender!

To reiterate, the top 5 credit cards with phone insurance are:

  1. Wells Fargo Active Cash Card
  2. Chase Freedom Flex
  3. Capital One Venture X Rewards
  4. American Express Platinum Card
  5. U.S. Bank Altitude Connect Visa Signature Card
